“Forest Dancers"

Painting on Silk         40" x 30"

"Intricate, active designs with expressive color inherent in Nature and furtive, figurative forms" using watercolors, acrylics,  and silk dyes are the main concern of Marianna Hamilton Ross. Florida's rich diversity of foliage and native habitats are constructed by direct observation of irregular root and plant structures, as well as figure studies from life drawing sessions, evolving  into complex, imaginary  worlds.

Influenced by the northern California gardens of her childhood, an anatomical interest from her family's medical background, and Florida's native forest habitats and gardens, she seeks to interweave these observations to provide a fluctuating symbiotic Dance between Man and Nature-continually challenging, stimulating yet nurturing.
